ACADEMIC PROGRAM

The Chair of St. Peter School (CSPS) offers the following Basic Education Programs:

  1. Pre-School
  2. Grade School
  3. Junior High School
  4. Senior High School

1. Pre – School: Early Childhood Program

The Pre – School curriculum is aimed at:

  • developing students to speak clearly and fluently;
  • be creative;
  • control one’s self and one’s movements;
  • act independently; and
  • work/play with others.

All of which will provide children with the much-needed skills to be successful in school and in life. Though not a pre-requisite for entry to Kindergarten level as part of the K-12 program of the Department of Education (DepEd), it has been proven that children who went to school at an early age had gained more benefits particularly in his/her social skills and developing routines.

The curriculum follows also the Movement and Music Program making students to be bodily and musically aware of one’s self.

2. Grade School

The CSPS Grade School comprises Kindergarten to Grade 6. The academic program is a blend of the Department of Education (DepEd) K-12 curriculum and the curriculum of high quality private schools with English as the medium of instruction. The students are equipped with knowledge that will make them more confident as they grow and discover themselves.

3. Junior High School

The CSPS Junior High School comprises Grades 7 to 10.  In Junior High School, the student is helped to discover one’s self, hones his/her talents and abilities and develops his/her leadership skills.

4. Senior High School

The CSPS Senior High School comprises Grades 11 and 12. It is envisioned to be a Catholic and college -preparatory senior high school with programs designed to make students be ready for higher education where they can grasp abstract ideas in order to deal with concrete and practical issues. These will enable them to cope and be adjusted to a more challenging life situations.

CSPS offers Academic track with the following strands:

  • ACCOUNTANCY, BUSINESS, AND MANAGEMENT STRAND (ABM)– The ABM strand prepares the SHS student for a business course in college by introducing the basic subjects in Accountancy, Business, Management, Economics, Finance and Marketing.
  • SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, and MATHEMATICS STRAND (STEM) – The STEM strand is designed to prepare students who express keen interest in taking college degrees focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Senior high school students will be exposed to learning activities that will hone their knowledge and skills in analyzing data, understanding real-world impacts, and conducting research.

Objectives:

 The academic program in CSPS has the following objectives:

  1. Aiming for mastery of knowledge & skills by chunking of information into easily-digestible bits followed by opportunities for student practice.
  2. Deeper understanding of concepts by:
    • Creating opportunities for students to think actively and uncover complexity
    • Making time for personal reflections and make connections with the real-world.
  3. Interactive learning by….
    • Allowing students to create choices, make choices and voice out their thoughts
    • Allowing students to inquire and explore together
  4. Learning by “doing” and “making” by…
    • Giving timely feedback with the teacher as coach, so that students know how they are doing
    • Giving opportunities for students to learn critical and creative thinking in real-world and community-based problems and situations
